Chapter President, Tom Cavanaugh ’69
Tom was a nuclear power qualified officer, serving on the USS Nautilus (SSN-571) and USS Long Beach (CGN-9), including a tour in the Tonkin Gulf. After his naval service, he became an actuary working with public sector pension plans. With a partner, he started an actuarial consulting firm, from which he retired in 2014. Tom and his wife Christine live on Hilton Head Island.

Secretary, Doug Ogden ’67
Doug reported to USS AULT (DD-698) after graduation and later served in Vietnam as Ops Officer for INSHORE UNDERSEA WARFARE GROUP ONE, UNIT THREE earning many service commendations. He left the Navy in 1971, earned a Juris Doctor Degree and went on to serve 23 years in the FBI. On retirement he and his wife Denise moved to Dataw Island, SC where he enjoys life and golf.
Chapter Treasurer, John Scanlan ’83
John went into the Marine Corps after graduation and earned his Naval Aviation wings at Pensacola. He was stationed with VMFA-212 at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and flew the F-4S Phantom. He later flew F/A-18s with VMFA(AW)-121. He currently lives in Hilton Head and is pursuing his passion to be a writer.
