Go Navy!

Shipmates,

For our annual Spring Luncheon this year, our USNA Alumni Association Low Country Chapter will host a more casual event at Bostwick Pavilion located at the Moss Creek Marina. This catered buffet of sandwiches, salads and included beverages will begin at 1200 Saturday, 2 April 2022. The Bostwick Pavilion overlooks Mackay Creek and the Moss Creek Marina. It is a beautiful, comfortable, and casual venue. (See details in the attached flyer.)

Our featured speaker is Captain Robert “Bo” Johns, Deputy Commandant for Professional Development at the Naval Academy.  Captain Johns is responsible for five divisions: Officer Accession & Talent Management; USNA Sailing; Seamanship & Navigation; Waterfront Readiness; and Training.   He will highlight changes to the seamanship and navigation curriculum which emphasize rules of the road, ship handling, electronic & celestial navigation, and JPME fundamentals and also discuss other topics including the details of how service assignments are made (different from service selections prior to 1995).  The updated curriculum is informed by the Navy and relatively recent events with the USS McCain and USS Fitzgerald – very timely and relevant training!

We are now taking reservations! The cost of the luncheon remains at only $25 per person, a real bargain in today’s inflationary environment. Please RSVP to Dave Igyarto at igyartodp@icloud.com by MARCH 25th. The registration date is important since we need to provide an accurate headcount to our caterer as well as a list of attendees to Moss Creek Security at least one week in advance of the event.

Why wait?  Sign up now! This annual Chapter event is a great start to a new season of fun activities with your fellow alumni and guests.  Let’s come out and enjoy a new venue with great views of our SC low country vistas while renewing friendships and listening to an excellent speaker with an important message.

GO NAVY!
